The severe weather and emergency conditions policy for Duke University and Duke University Health System will be extended until 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, after which normal operations will resume.
Conditions vary throughout the region, and those with unique individual circumstances should consult with their managers as appropriate. All staff in “Essential Service” positions should continue to report to work or remain at work when the policy is in effect.
Once decisions have been made about Duke Heath Clinic hours of operation for Tuesday, details will be posted on the Duke Health website.
Roads, sidewalks and parking lots are in good shape on campus. Conditions are expected to improve with rising temperatures during the afternoon, but there may be refreezing overnight. Crews will continue clearing campus roads and sidewalks today and will begin at 6 a.m. Tuesday salting parking lots and building entrances. Warming temperatures are expected help with melting by mid-morning Tuesday.
Students, faculty, and staff should use the roads, sidewalks, parking lots and building entrances indicated on the priority clearing map to determine the preferred paths of travel on Tuesday, because all areas may not be cleared yet. Members of the Duke community should use extreme caution when traveling to and around campus in case there are icy spots.
Many Duke Dining locations are closed or operating on modified hours on Monday. Marketplace will serve dinner from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Perkins/Bostock and Lilly libraries are open and will be operating on a regular schedule for the remainder of today and Tuesday. The Music Library will close at 5 p.m. today.
