As of Saturday morning, the effects of Florence for Duke’s main campus areas are downed trees, some localized flooding, and scattered power outages.

In the Triangle area, projections are for intermittent rain from various storm bands through today.

The following main campus updates are reported at this time:


Duke’s transit system is running according to the “severe weather transit” notice posted on Duke’s TransLoc site. The Swift Express bus has been added today and tomorrow. Community members are encouraged to check that real-time site before heading out.


The Marketplace on East Campus is open, as are most eateries in the Brodhead Center on West Campus. A number of other locations on West Campus, including Saladelia in Perkins, are closed. For the latest schedules, see here.

Recreation Centers

Wilson and Card gym are expected to reopen at 5 p.m. today. Brodie is closed. All facilities resume regular operating hours on Sunday. For the latest schedules, see here.
