As part of improvements to the DukeALERT notification system, the university has added two sirens to its outdoor warning system that will be tested between noon and 2 p.m. Thursday. Tropical Storm Hanna has passed through the Triangle and Duke officials report the campus suffered no major damage. Tonight’s football game between Duke and Northwestern will proceed as planned, and other campus activities are generally on schedule as well.
As Hurricane Hanna approaches North Carolina, Duke officials have taken several steps to prepare for severe weather. The Duke Marine Lab has implemented its evacuation plan for undergraduate students, who will leave Beaufort by 12:30 p.m. today. Housing has been provided for them on the Durham campus.
