Duke is conducting a test today of the various communication tools in its DukeALERT notification system. If this were an actual emergency, this message would include information about the incident and where to find updates.

Today’s test will include a tone-only activation of the sirens. You do not need to take any action as part of this test, but in a real emergency you should follow the S.O.S. acronym:

  • Seek shelter immediately,
  • Obtain information through the DukeALERT system, and
  • Stay tuned for further instructions.

As part of today’s test, we ask you to fill out a brief online survey about your experience with the DukeALERT notification system. Your response will help Duke enhance its safety planning.

If you have not already done so, we encourage all members of the Duke community to register to receive emergency text message notifications. Instructions for doing so, as well as information about what to do in an emergency, can be found at http://emergency.duke.edu.

Thank you for helping Duke evaluate its alert systems.
