Due to low temperatures overnight and the potential for refreezing of wet roads, the Severe Weather and Emergency Conditions policy for Duke University and Duke University Health System will be extended until 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 27. The Provost has also canceled classes starting before 10 a.m. Friday.
Patient appointments in Duke Clinics will begin at 10 a.m. Friday. Individual patients with appointments scheduled before 10 a.m. will be contacted by phone. Clinic staff should report to work prior to clinic opening based on standard procedures.
While campus conditions have improved significantly during the day, temperatures are expected to drop into the 20s overnight, which may lead to black ice and refreezing. Crews will be out early treating roads, walkways and parking lots around campus. Temperatures are expected to rise above freezing by mid-morning to help improve traveling conditions, but icy spots may still exist. Members of the Duke community should review the priority clearing map to determine the preferred paths of travel during severe weather, which may differ from normal routines.
