The severe weather policy for Duke University and Duke University Health System will be extended until 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14. Classes will be cancelled Friday.
Only a few select Duke clinics previously notified will be open Friday. Patients who were scheduled for appointments on Friday have been notified accordingly to the clinic status.
Additional accumulations of 1-2 inches of snow are expected to fall today, and roads may refreeze overnight as temperatures remain below freezing. Crews plan to clear priority roads, lots and walkways once precipitation ends and will treat building entrances and other areas with ice melt.
However, community members are encouraged to use caution when traveling to and around campus and should only use priority roads, walkways and parking lots or garages during winter weather to reduce the potential for accidents and injuries.
Staff in “Essential Service” positions should report to work or remain at work. Gates on parking garages will be open for use by staff in “Essential Service” positions when the severe policy is in effect. All employees “Delayed Service” positions should not report to work or remain at work when the policy is in effect to allow for crews to clear parking lots and roads more effectively.
Please continue to check this site [http://emergency.duke.edu/] during the course of the storm for updates. Ongoing updates about campus operations, including roads, parking lots, busing routes, dining facilities and Duke stores, will be posted on this site.
