The severe weather and emergency conditions policy for Duke University and Duke University Health System will be in effect through 7 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 31.

A decision about the status of the severe weather policy for the remainder of Sunday will be communicated later this evening. This message will be updated again by 8 p.m. today.

All staff in “Essential Service” positions who are scheduled to work during this period should report to work or remain at work.

Most major roads leading to campus have been cleared once, and crews are working to clear roads and walkways on campus. Parking garage gates have been opened for the use of staff in essential service positions. A map of snow clearing priorities for roads and parking lots is also available on the DukeALERT website.

Frozen precipitation is predicted to continue until into the afternoon. Individuals are encouraged to use extreme caution if travel is necessary.

Additional updates as well as the current status of essential campus services, such as dining facilities, busing routes and parking lots, can be found on the DukeALERT website (http://emergency.duke.edu/).
